                                           THE CORE RULES OF NETIQUETTE

RULE #1
           REMEMBER THE HUMAN
>> The Golden Rule applies; "Do unto others what you want others do unto you."
>> State your stands and opinions without hurting other people's feelings.
>> Use your network connections to express yourself freely, explore strange new worlds and boldly go where you've never been before.
>> There are real people out there.

RULE #2
ADHERE TO THE SAME STANDARDS OF BEHAVIOR ONLINE THAT YOU FOLLOW IN REAL LIFE
>> If a person is law-abiding in real life, he or she should also be law-abiding in cyberspace.
>> Breaking laws in real life have following punishments, so is in cyberspace.

RULE #3
KNOW WHERE YOU ARE IN CYBERSPACE
>> What's perfectly acceptable in one area may be dreadfully rude in another.

>>  Lurk before you leap.
>> When you enter a domain in cyberspace that's new to you, take a look around. Spend a while listening to the chat/ reading the archiver. Get a sense of how the people who are already there act. Then go ahead and participate.

RULE #4
RESPECT OTHER PEOPLE'S TIME AND BANDWIDTH
>> It's your responsibility to ensure that the time they spend reading your posted staff is not wasted.
>> Sending repetitive information to another computer or person consumes the storage capacity (bandwidth) of the receiver.
>> Be considerate.

RULE #5
           MAKE YOURSELF LOOK GOOD ONLINE
>> Take advantage of your anonymity.
>> Be cautious and be good on what you write or post online.
>> If you feel like cursing is required, it's preferable to use amusing euphemisms like "effing" or the classic asterisk filter.
>> Make sure to check your grammar and spelling before posting anything online.

RULE #6
           SHARE EXPERT KNOWLEDGE
>> You have knowledge to share, so don't be afraid.
>>  Sharing expert opinions or knowledge serve as basis for others and even an answer for an argument.

RULE #7
HELP KEEP FLAME WARS UNDER CONTROL
>> Perpetuation of flame wars dominate the tone and destroy the camaraderie of a discussion group.

RULE #8
           RESPECT OTHER PEOPLE'S PRIVACY
>> Don't meddle with other people's business especially if it does not concern you (like other's e-mails).

RULE #9
           DON'T ABUSE YOUR POWER
>> Knowing more than others/ having more power than they do, does not give you the right to take advantage of them. Rather than abusing your power, use it wisely instead. Use it to help others to be literate regarding the ICT world.

RULE #10
BE FORGIVING OF OTHER PEOPLE'S MISTAKES
>> Everyone was a network newbie once, We make mistakes because we are not "that" literate about it.
>> Let's be considerate of other's mistakes. If you feel like correcting them, do it politely not arrogantly. Do it privately rather than publicly.
